What is Life in the Way?
The "Way" is what the first believers were called. Paul, when he was Saul, persecuted the "Way". We can see this in these verses,
1 Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,
2 and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
And when he became Paul,
4 “I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and putting both men and women into prisons,
5 as also the high priest and all the Council of the elders can testify. From them I also received letters to the brethren, and started off for Damascus in order to bring even those who were there to Jerusalem 2as prisoners to be punished.
6 “But it happened that as I was on my way, approaching Damascus about noontime, a very bright light suddenly flashed from heaven all around me,
7 and I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’
8 “And I answered, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, whom you are persecuting.’
9 “And those who were with me saw the light, to be sure, but did not understand the voice of the One who was speaking to me.
10 “And I said, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord said to me, ‘Get up and go on into Damascus, and there you will be told of all that has been appointed for you to do.’
He then was of course part of that "sect",
14 “But this I admit to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect I do serve the God of our fathers, believing everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets;
15 having a hope in God, which these men cherish themselves, that there shall certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.
16 “In view of this, I also do my best to maintain always a blameless conscience both before God and before men.
We are all a part of that sect when we become christians. The term Christian was first used in Antioch for the followers of the way. It is uncertain weather it was a way for the officials to distinguish them from other groups or if it was something they gave to themselves to not have the barrier of Jew and Gentile.
Jesus is the way to life
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
What we are striving for is to live life in the way of Christ.
